USA gets TWO more!!! - Chicago Details
Today we went to St. Louis, and the kids were interviewed along with me and Brent for their Citizenship. It was very ..... basic questions. Like how did you crawl from North Korea into South Korea undetected, and then hope a plane to the US. Have you been sending back info about Nuclear weapons. What Branch of the KGB were you in??? How did you feel when the USSR fell. You know that kinda of stuff. The kids both acted like they didn't know, but she used many methods of "persuasion" and they finally cracked.
Really it was just signing some MORE forms, and asking why why child was IR4 and one was IR3. Seems to me that anyone with any knowledge of the forms and adoption would know, but no problem for me to explain. Brent and I both had to speak the Oath on behalf of the kids. Braden read along, and finished with the SO HELP ME GOD at the end.
They gave the kids little USA flag and the actual Certificates of Citizenship, so the USA "offically" got two more citizens today. They have been Citizens since they arrived, but the paper makes it offical in their Immigration files. As we walked out some of the guards congradulated them, they were over the moon with the flags.
We stopped at Red Lobster for celebration lunch. The hostess asked why they had badges and we explained. They gave the kids free smoothies. They were in smoothie heaven.
It was a great day. HOT but great.
Chicago- was a blast. The train ride was fun, but a little lonely. I wish that I had someone with me on it, but I listened to Harry Potter. The girls were great. We had one that I could have done without. It seems that there is a complainer in each group, it is too hot, it costs too much, I don't want to go there, but all in all with 6 women it was fun.
We went dancing, shopping, laughed, and had such a good time!! The ladies that I was already close with I am closer with and can't wait to meet up with them again. One lives very near Chicago so that will be FUN! We stayed half way between North Shore Drive and Michigan Avenue. We walked ALOT! I took my first Cab ride. I have a hidden new love for American Girl.
All and all it was fun!
